T.O.A. Asian Fusion opening in Merrick

Life isn’t a straight line. Finding your dream career involves a lot of twists and turns, like a river. In my search for the perfect job, I find myself constantly changing course, because even though planning is helpful, the plans themselves are useless.

In past years, I’ve been through sailing, college consulting, and fashion design. And now I find myself eating my words from last year. Despite how much I hate New York, I’m thrilled to announce the upcoming opening of T.O.A. Asian Fusion1 at 33 Sunrise Hwy, Merrick, NY 11566.

Newsday press release for the sixth location.

Here’s the press release from Newsday on the Merrick location:

T.O.A. Asian Fusion is on a roll. Four months after opening its fifth location, in East Islip, the restaurant group has announced its sixth: Evan Chen, who owns the chain with Eric Lin, confirmed the group had bought the old George Martin Grillfire in Merrick…

“We’re doing a full renovation,” he said, “from the facade to an entire interior build-out.”

… and a blurb from Newsday on the fifth location:

With the opening Thursday of T.O.A. Asian Fusion in East Islip, the restaurant group has added its fifth location in 10 years. It was in 2015 that the first T.O.A. opened in Huntington; Farmingdale (2017), Sayville (2018) and Melville (2022) followed. T.O.A. stands for “taste of Asia,” and the menu at all five locations blends Japanese, Chinese, Korean, Thai, Malaysian and Vietnamese flavors.

Evan Chen, who owns the chain with Eric Lin, said that the appeal of the concept is its range. “If a family is going out and one person likes Chinese, another likes Thai, another likes sushi — they can all have what they want.”

I look forward to the grand opening!

The soon-to-be sixth location.
